A simple concept:
Respect
For our citizens, our tax dollars, and the Rule of Law
Respect for our citizens
True leaders lead by example. The citizens of our county deserve a Sheriff who leads the department with professionalism, compassion, and thoughtfulness.
The Sheriff is responsible for determining, displaying, and upholding the standards of the department. During his time with the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office, Ben Banks showed respect for the members of his community through his interactions with others, on and off duty.
If elected, Ben will raise the standards for how the Deputies of the county interact with the public, other county departments, and other law enforcement agencies. The citizens of Mineral County need a Sheriff’s Office that we can trust to respect us and the community we share.
Respect for our tax dollars
Ben Banks knows that tax dollars came from somewhere - your hard work. They aren’t just numbers on a spread sheet, and how those dollars get spent matters. Having been a part of the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office, Ben has seen first hand where the MCSO struggles with funding, and where funds are needed most. Efficient and effective management of the MCSO budget can greatly improve the quality of law enforcement in Mineral County.
Additionally, in the past two years, significant budget deficits originating from MCSO have deeply impacted Mineral County’s bottom line. It’s time to fix that, too.
Mineral County deserves a Sheriff who adheres to the laws they are entrusted to enforce. It is the most basic and essential requirement of the office.
This county is an amazing place to live and raise a family, because of the genuine and determined people who call it home. For years, the morale of our community has been hampered by legal scandals involving MCSO.
This has to change.
It is unacceptable for the agency responsible for upholding the law in Mineral County to be led by an individual who has shown themselves to be irreverent towards the law.
Ben Banks has never been a plaintiff or defendant in a lawsuit, and has held a Top Secret Clearance since 2016. He believes that law enforcement officers should be held to the same legal standards as every other citizen, if not to a higher standard. If elected, he will ensure that everyone in MCSO, the Sheriff included, will be held accountable for adhering to the rule of law.
Respect for the Rule of Law
“The mission of the Sheriff's Office is to maintain and improve the quality of life within the community by working with all people to preserve life, maintain human rights, protect property and promote individual responsibility and community commitment.”
